The Ross Hill Award for Outstanding Achievement in Production

2011

The Ross Hill Award for Outstanding Achievement in Production honours technicians, stage managers, production educators, heads of wardrobe or electrics or sound: the experts behind the scenes for a body of work exemplifying a career of distinction and accomplishment.

Tim Williamson has been a mentor, friend and colleague backstage in Edmonton’s theatre scene for many years.

Ross Hill writes:

I hired Tim at the Citadel when it moved  to the new building and I never regretted the hiring, he was head electrician. Tim stayed in the city and after a bit moved to the Jubilee Auditorium where he still works as Head of Stage. Tim has a high standard and brings thought to what ever he is doing. When I was preparing self-study modules for the Grant MacEwan program, Tim was a prime contributor. I learned that he knew the skill area inside out and had a method for everything he did, very important when teaching.  He taught for me, teaches computer drafting at University of Alberta, was a member of my advisory committee and a man who I would call for advice many times in the course of a year. I cannot praise him highly enough.  There are many theatre technicians in Edmonton who are better at their jobs after contact with Tim.

The Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards Committee is delighted to honour Tim Williamson.
